November's Indie Author of the Month is...

Hello, all!
Welcome to the latest installment of Indie Author of the Month. Before we get to the good stuff I just want to take a moment to address a bit of “housekeeping” items that have been on my mind.

First off, to all the victims of Hurricane Sandy my heart goes out to you all! The destruction was horrifying and I had to stop watching news coverage because it was breaking my heart. Seeing familiar places beaten down and overtaken by the sea was sickening and very frightening. We were very lucky here in my part of WV…NO SNOW…just some serious rain and wind. The Big Guy was really watching over us, because we had very little damage in our area and minimal power outages. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers especially as we enter the holiday season.  I’m sure you’ve seen that the Red Cross has set up a Hurricane Relief Fund. I just wanted to share the link with you in case you are interested in contributing.

Secondly, on a bit happier note, I’ve done some revamping to the blog (when I should have been sleeping or doing homework but of course the blog is way more important.) There is a new tab at the top entitled “Extra! Extra! Read All About It!” here you will find cover reveals, book blurbs, and release date info on some of my favorite indies. You may even find a few stray release day giveaways happening there. A little birdie told me there might be one on Tuesday…hint, hint. Watch for FB posts and tweets as new books are added to the news reel.  Also, if you are interested in having your book info posted here just shoot me an email (MichelleNicoleWrites@gmail.com) and I’ll gladly get it posted.

Alright, now that I’ve addressed those few items let’s get on with the fun! November has arrived, Can you believe it?! Thanksgiving is coming and then Christmas and then New Years! We are in the home stretch of 2012! But, I’m getting ahead of myself…back to November  which will be filled with more weekly giveaways all culminating in the SUPER MEGA AWESOME GRAND PRIZE GIVEAWAY!! So, who is November’s Indie Author of the Month?

*drumroll*

The great, the talented, the lovely, the sweet, the out of this world amazing, Devyn Dawson!!!! *overwhelming applause*

 So, who is Devyn Dawson?

Devyn is the girl with the big imagination... telling the stories about the characters that live in her head. A mother of two young adults keeps her on her toes and in the loop. Her blogs will keep you laughing, her vlogs will show you her silliness and her books will have you long for the friendships and to fall in love for the first time all over again

Devyn took some time out this week after braving the hurricane to answer a few questions for me.

MN: So Devyn, what made you decide to take the self-publishing leap?
DD: After researching the publishing world against the indie world, it was a no-brainer.  I am a control freak, and keeping creative control of my work is essential.

MN: How long have you been full time writer?
DD:  I’ve been writing full time for two years.

MN: What is the last book you read?
DD:  Significance by Shelly Crane

MN: What has been your favorite 2012 moment/memory so far?
DD: When I searched for my book title on Twitter and saw a conversation between some readers that were discussing my books.

MN: What's next for Devyn Dawon?
DD:  I’m currently working on Sapphire, a Werewolf Love Story.  It is a novella about two adult characters in Malevolence.  The book is my first non-young-adult book.  I hope to have it out in December.

MN: Your dream fictional character you’d like to have as a real life bestie?
DD: My dream fictional character from my books is Pru.  I know I’d be safe with her around, not that I’m not safe, but I’d be doubly safe.  A character that isn’t from my work, would be Hermione - again, I’d be safe…and mesmerized.

MN: Your dream fictional character love interest?
DD:  My fictional love interest from my books is a toss between Oakley and Thorne.  My dream character not from my books is hands down Edward Cullins….he will forever and always be my favorite male character (and it wouldn’t be Rob Pattinson)

MN: What is your most prized possession?
DD:  Not one item pops into my head…. I’d like to keep my imagination and the ability to share it with the world.

Time for the speed round…respond with the first thing that comes to mind:
Color?   Purple
Song?   Shinedown’s version of Simple Man
Food?   This week - cinnamon toast
Place?  Anywhere I’m surrounded by family and friends
Book?   The Harry Potter books
Season?   I love springtime
Holiday?  Easter
Animal?   Cats
