CPA by day Writer by night. :)
I was born and raised in the beautiful state of West Virginia! And yes, we wear shoes and typically have most of our teeth. ;) I graduated from Shepherd University with a BS in Accounting/Business and busted serious butt to become a certified public accountant. After all of those years of hard work, I finally had time for something fun again.
It didn't take long for me to rediscover my love of books and my love of writing. I used to read a ton when I was younger but "outgrew" it when it wasn't the "cool" thing to do anymore. Then once I didn't care about being "cool" anymore I didn't have time since I was working part time and hitting the accounting books full-time. Looking back, I have no idea how I survived all that madness without the reprieve of a good story!
If you would have asked me ten years ago what I would be doing today writing would NOT have made the list and self publishing my own book would not even have hit the radar! I hated english, grammar, and literature class...I mean hated them all with a passion!
It is still bit crazy to think back on how writing became a necessary part of my life. It started back in the fall of 2009, I remember being incredibly overwhelmed with inexplicable sadness (and if you know me that is NOT the kind of person I am...I'm the happy smiley kind of person.) So, I opened up Word and just started typing. Words flooded my screen pulling the sadness right out of my heart. Talk about therapeutic!
That is the day I found my Muse and she hasn't left since. I really hope she is in it for the long haul cause she is pretty awesome. I'm still shocked as new ideas fill my brain on a continual basis. It truly is nothing short of a miracle.
Now as mentioned...I HATED everything related to writing growing up! Or at least that is how I remembered it until the day I went through my keepsake box of assignments and other school/childhood stuff. You'll never guess what I found inside that box! Notebooks and papers and journals filled with thoughts, short stories, and poems were littered throughout the box. Turns out I've been writing much longer than just a few years...I've been doing it all of my life...I just never thought of it the way I do now.
Writing has become a distinct and intimate part of who I am, it's a magnificent place where anything can happen. A good story can be such an inspiration and I only hope that I can inspire and bring joy to others with my stories, the way other authors have done for me.
The door has been opened and there's no looking back now! I wouldn't want it any other way!
