Tiffany King ~ September's Indie Author of the Month ***Week 1 Winner Announced***

Well, September is finally here which means two things, one I'm another year older today and two, its time to recognize my very first Indie Author of the Month, Tiffany King! I'm so excited and humbled to get a chance to have Tiffany on the blog this month.

Here she is! Isn't she pretty?! I love her...A LOT!

She is a shining star in my book which is why she has received this sparkly engraved star bookmark (that can also double as a magic wand) as her fantastic Indie Author of the Month award.

Each week of September will be filled with all things Tiffany, including character interviews and other cool things! :) So be sure to check in each week for all of the fun and your chance to win cool prizes!

Tiffany took a few moments out of the beautiful Florida sunshine to answer a few questions for me to help kick off the feature. So without further adieu let the interrogation...I mean interview begin!

M: What made you decide to take the self publishing leap?
T:  I know that self publishing versus traditional publishing is a highly debated subject right now. I've heard all the criticism, but for me, self publishing made sense. The distribution channels simply opened doors that were previously locked for many talented authors. I enjoy having control of my decisions, what I write, how to market it and how much it's sold for. What I discovered was that I absolutely love what I do. I certainly don't consider it the easy way out, and judging by the many hours I work every day, it's definitely not the lazy way out either. It takes a great deal of hard work and the ability to deal with some stress. Sure, maybe self pubs don't get the respect that traditionally published authors do, but I truly feel that is rapidly changing. Besides, the rewards make it all worth it, like all the amazing people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

M: How long have you been full time writer?
T: I've been a full time writer since April of this year. Exactly one year after I published my first novel, Meant to Be. It's such a surreal experience. I never thought I would be one of those people who are able to make a living doing what they love. For anyone that asks, I always tell them, dreams do come true if you work hard and believe in yourself.

M: What is the last book you read?
T: I just finished Chance Encounters by J. Sterling and I loved it. I'm always a sucker for the idea of fate bringing people together.

M: What has been your favorite 2012 moment/memory so far?
T: It's a tie. First, my first official day as a full-time writer, which made me giddy, but still scared to death. I woke up that day and thought, "holy crap, I'm not going to work today." Second was going to UTOPYACON in Nashville. I was in awe being around all those incredibly talented people.

Speaking of UTOPYACON, I was so sad that I missed out this year but I'm definitely going in 2013! I already purchased my early bird tickets! Woop! Woop! There is a link below if you'd like to check more out about the event.

M: What's next for Tiffany King? Next book title/release date?
T: I just released my newest book, Unlikely Allies. The response has been amazing. My next book (not titled yet) will be out by Christmas time. I'm anxious to drift away from my Young Adult comfort zone and try the New Adult genre.

Unlikely Allies

M: So, who would be your dream fictional character you’d like to have as a real life bestie?
T: Everybody knows I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so Harry would be my guy. Travel would be a breeze, Zap, we're at the mall. Zap again, we're at a restaurant. Magic would be wonderful.

M: How about your dream fictional character love interest?
T: My dream character would be Edward. Sorry guys. He's rich, sparkly, indestructible, fast, super strong and loves his woman like no other. What more could a girl ask for ;)

M: Time for the speed round…respond with the first thing that comes to mind. Ready, set, go!
Color? Pink, baby!!!
Song? It changes almost daily, but right now, it's The Fighter, by the Gym Class Heroes.
Food? Chocolateeeeeeeeeeeee ;) Um, yep, you get the point.
Place? Anywhere my family is.
Book? Harry Potter 1-7 of course.
Season? Fall (Up north Fall that is)
Holiday? Christmas.
Animal? Cats for sure. Cats rule and dogs drool.

Thank you so much for stopping by, Tiff! Also, you MUST pick up Unlikely Allies! I read it and it's amazing...I cried it was so good.
